This study’s objective is to ascertain the degree of school literacy among class III students at SDN 17 Palembang by using reading corners as an alternate strategy to stimulate their interest in reading. The study also aims to ascertain the students’ interest in reading activities by making use of the classroom reading corners in each class to help students become accustomed to reading. This study used observation, interviews, and documentation as data gathering methods. The findings of this study demonstrate that students are highly engaged in literacy-related activities in the classroom; however, of the twenty students who read fluently, five do not participate in the literacy movement. Additionally, parent and teacher interviews indicate that parents and teachers fully support their children, as evidenced by the presence of reading nooks in every classroom, which students use to read at home instead of having to go to the library.
